Cannes is one of the biggest seaside resort of the French Riviera, which embodies the glamorous and the luxury thanks to its famous Cannes Film Festival ! Beaches alongside the boulevard de la Croisette are mostly hotels' private beaches but there are public sandy beaches of course which extend until Mandelieu-la Napoule on the West and the end of the Croisette on the East.
Excepted luxury and shopping, Cannes has also an historic district, the Suquet with a beautiful panorama on the Bay of Cannes and the Lerins Islands, located in the Bay (15 minutes by boat)
The city of Cannes is blessed with beautiful sandy beaches, with a 7 km coastline. Most of the beaches on the boulevard de la Croisette are hotels' private beaches but there are a lot of public sandy beaches !
Cannes coastline extends from Cannes la Bocca (boulevard du Midi) to the end of the Croisette (direction Golfe-Juan). On some beaches, beach volley areas are available as well as accesses for persons with reduced mobility ; a Handibeach is set up at Bijou Plage at the end of the boulevard la Croisette.
Our tips
- For the amateurs and passionate with shopping, Cannes is a dream place !
The rue d'Antibes is one of main street of the city, because it concentrates the majority of the shops of ready-to-wear clothing and decoration. On the famous Boulevard de la Croisette, there are mainly luxury shops close to the luxury hotels of Cannes.
The rue Meynadier is a typical narrow street of the southern village,
where you can wander and rush into small typical shops, which dive you into the Provence with its colours and scents.

Le Suquet is the "old-town" of Cannes, located on the hill which overlooks the old port. On the top of the hill, admire the Suquet tower, the chapel Sainte-Anne and the church Notre-Dame-de-l'Espérance : all three are gathered on the same place : place de la Castre.
And do not forget to enjoy the view there !
The Forville Market is an historical local covered market, which is open everyday except on Mondays.
Hidden behind the city hall, you can take a walk between market gardeners, fishermen, cheese makers, butcher and florists ! Forville's car park allows 1 hour free, enough to do your shopping.
The archipelago of the Lérins Islands is visible from Cannes, 15 min by boat maximum. Two big islands form this archipelago : the Sainte-Marguerite island, (the biggest) famous for its fort which would have sheltered the Man in the iron mask and the smallest, the Saint-Honorat island where there is a monastery.
Transparent sea, shady areas under pines and isolated creeks make it the marvel of the Cannes Bay !
