Barcarès, which is called Port-Barcarès, is a seaside resort of Languedoc-Roussillon, but especially fishermen's village !
25 km from Perpignan, the village is connected with the sea by 3 "graus" (estuaries).
The pond of Salses-Leucate allows to discover fishermen's authentic houses and a flora and a fauna protected, the space is moreover classified " Natura on 2000 ". The Pine forest, the real lung of the city, is a place to visit (between Leucate and Barcarès) as well as the beach of Lydia and the famous liner Lydia which there failed since 1967.

If you like the fresh fish, go to the port in the morning on the return to the fishermen who sell you directly the daily catch !
Markets are night-in summer, with hand-made products, vegetables and mediterranean and catalan home produces.

The Catalan coast of Barcarès counts 8 kilometers of fine sand beaches ! It is of course possible to practise nautical and sports activities there, paddle, kitesurf...
