Valmeinier is composed of two levels, Valmeinier villages and Valmeinier 1800 both in the heart of the Galibier Thabor ski area.
Valmeinier villages (1500 m), is composed a group of twenty small hamlets very appreciated by families for its calm and panorama on the surrounding peaks.
Valmeinier 1800 is more a modern resort, but it has kept a traditional aspect with relatively low buildings that do not ruin the surrounding landscape. It is the highest ski-resort of Maurienne and as part of the Galibier Thabor ski area, Valmeinier offers a large playground for skiers of all levels!
Linked to Valloire, the ski area of Valmeinier is part of the Galibier-Tabor area which, with its 180km of slopes, offers a diversified and for everyone ski.
70% of the ski area is above 2000m which allows nice snow.
The ski is not too difficult (many blues and reds) but still has hard slopes. You will ski among forests, white landscapes or hamlets depending on your taste ! The area has one the best freestyle park of Europe ! You can also go in the DVA park to learn how to use an ARVA or time yourself in a dedicated area.
